Karyn Shapiro recently launched K-Shapiro’s Consulting Practice; the company is a Strategic CFO functional office, enabling companies to outsource parts or all of the CFO’s key support functions. The practice’s core competencies include business planning, financial modeling & analysis, capital raises, and strategic decision making for start-ups and early stage companies; she also partnered with and is consulting on behalf of Frontier in Bermuda for all Bermuda related business.
Karyn is a corporate finance professional with 9.5 years of Strategy, FP&A, Capital Markets and M&A experience within the property and casualty (re)-insurance market. She spent 8 years at Ironshore, which is now a subsidiary of Liberty Mutual, working in strategy, capital markets and financial planning & analysis. During that time, she also worked closely with the executive management team on four significant capital raises. She then transitioned into mergers & acquisitions for a run-off insurance company, Randall & Quilter, providing and completing liability exit solutions, which were targeted at captives. Thereafter, she partnered with a local firm in Bermuda where she now offers corporate finance and strategic consulting services to Bermuda (re) insurance firms. In parallel, she also recently launched K-Shapiro’s Consulting (a Delaware LLC) to provide corporate financial services targeted at early stage companies in the US. In the past three months, K-Shapiro’s Consulting has provided services to two start-ups in the insurance space, one of which operates in the Insure-Tech space. During the most recent project, K-Shapiro’s Consulting developed a financial operating model for its client and its founders. During her tenure Ironshore and her term at R&Q she managed the due diligence processes for various sized and type of transactions. Karyn’s transaction experience ranges from equity raises, debt issuances, full ownership sale and run-off liability transactions. Her experience also includes effective management and leadership skills, working closely with CEOs, CFOs, and Board of Directors.
Karyn earned an MBA, with a Major in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Karyn also graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Accountancy from The George Washington University School of Business where she received the accolade as the Distinguished Business Scholar and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma.
